Doncaster is a friendly town in South Yorkshire with interesting old buildings. Doncaster Minster is a landmark building due to its very tall tower. You’ll find a Roman wall in its grounds.
It’s a super place for shoppers who can visit hundreds of stalls and Doncaster Market as well as the grandiose Victorian shopping centre, the Corn Exchange.
It has a rich industrial past and the Doncaster locomotive works produced two world record-breakers. It produced the Flying Scotsman, which was the first train to go at 100mph, and the Mallard, the fastest steam locomotive in the world.
They aren’t the only claims to fame. Doncaster Racecourse hosts the oldest regulated horse race in the world, the Doncaster Cup, as well as the British classic, the St Leger Stakes.
Whether you’re staying in Doncaster for work, or for leisure by yourself or with the family, you’ll find plenty to keep you occupied.
